I remember my orthodontist doctor told this one lady what to do and the lady listened and tightened my braces as instructed(by the doc). What are they called

My orthodontic dentist made me wear elastics and I had worn them for 2 months but he said for several months, but I dont have huge gaps between my teeth. He made me wear Class II Elastics: an elastic running from the upper front teeth to the lower back teeth to be more specific, in how many months do you think I will have to wear those, and how many months did you worn them?

Not the ones that are just braces with clear plastic pieces on them but the ones that are like a clear plastic mouth guard that act like braces?
