To all the people that have or had braces
There’s a new brand of self-ligating braces called Damon braces. I need to get braces soon, and I have a predicament between two orthodontists. Here’s the problem
Ortho 1- Extract top first bicuspids and lower second bicuspids. Lower right bicuspid might have a developing root problem, so its short right now. Flatten top front teeth because its angled outward to fix overbite.Wants to use conventional for 24 months.
Ortho 2- No extractions, wants to slightly flatten the top, but mostly bring the lower teeth/jaw outward to close the overbite. Wants to use Damon for slightly less than 24.
Im going to get my wisdom’s out anyways, and my mom says minus well extract the other four bicuspids. Im fine with that, but she wants to go with the first ortho because he uses the conventional braces. I want to go with the second one because of the Damon braces. My mom thinks the newer ones are fragile, wont get the job done, waste of money, and there’s been no study or research on these types of braces. 10 points to the person who can find researches, studies, or findings that support Damon braces as compared to the old, outdated conventional braces.

My dentist put on self-ligating brackets, so do I even need the colorful ligatures at all?
Also, what are the benefits of these types of brackets versus other kinds?

I know you can get colour with self-ligating braces (speed brackets). But does anyone have any pictures of what it would look like?

ok so im fianally getting braces, they are self-ligating braces, new typ which doesnt need bandcolors, but i want them neways, but i dont know what colors to get, what is the most popular color bands? oh and if u get braces at dr.spillers, do they hurt? what can i do to make the pain go away? thankz again!

i got regular braces put on 2 weeks ago, can i take them off and switch them for self ligating braces instead
also, i have braces to straighten teeth and cure my over bite. about how much faster will self ligating braces fix my teeth?

Im getting braces, and they are not the self-ligating ones. Theyre going to have the little coloured bands like traditional braces do. Are self ligating better? Both get the job done dont they? At the last moment Im worried that maybe I should have gone with self ligating braces
Any views? Those of you who have the ones that are not self ligating, any problems with them? I dont mind the appointments to have the elastics changed.

I just got Self Ligating Braces on Yesterday. However, I forgot to ask the orthodontist a question about them. How long will I have to continue to wear them once my teeth look straight. He said they should be straight in about a month ( my teeth are not that bad). How long will I have to wear the actual brackets before I start to use a retainer?
Has anyone else used speed braces before? If so, how did you have to wear them?
