Has Anyone Worn A Retainer Instead Of Having To Get Braces?

Do you remember what kind of retainer? Did it help your teeth become straighter? I just had my braces taken off last week, and I notice that there is a space in btx the back of my teeth. Which should’ve been fixed by my orthodontics. I have a meeting with him tomorrow, and I’m trying to be real cool and conservative when meeting with him. Eventhough I’m very upset. He shouldn’t have taken my braces off without fixing the space. Any ideas of what to say without sounding like a *****?

  1. There’s sometimes a natural small space in the back of your mouth. It normally goes away pretty soon. Retainers (unless they’re specially made) won’t do anything.

  2. No, I havent sorry. : )

  3. Retainers do just that: retain. Once your teeth have moved by using fixed braces or invisible aligners, they need to be kept from moving by wearing a retainer.
Your orthodontist won’t mind you asking about the space you found. Just don’t act as if he did something wrong and it should be fine.
“Hey, Dr. Whoever, I noticed this space back here. Should I be worried about it? Is this something you had anticipated? What do you recommend to close it?”

  4. i had 2 do both but it is hard to always keep it in i HATEED wearing it !good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. i have

  6. yes my son has worn a retainer and it so your teeth dont shift, but when you go into the office just tell him you have a question and you dont want to sound stupid but why do i have this space here i dont understand why,im sure he will exsplain to you why.

  7. Take good care of your teeth and these kind of questions will be past history

  8. I have. it helps to GET your teeth where they need to be so when the braces go on they do what the are supposed to do. If your teeth aren’t that bad though, a retainer will do the job as long as the dentist knows what he’s doing.
