I’m a senior in high school and I’m interested in becoming an orthodontist, but I’m not really sure where to start or what major at a university I should select for orthodontics.

  1. You would either go to a city college or 4 years university to take your pre-dental classes (bio major) and then apply for dental school once you’re done with dental school you can specialized in orthodontics..you don’t have to go to the same university for this you can apply elsewhere. In San Francisco there is the School of Dentistry of San Francisco (dentistry.ucsf.edu ) and there is private university know as UOP (www.dental.pacific.edu) they have a 3 year program for dentistry – look up their pre-reqprerequisites is a lucrative field specially if you land in a practice where you can be partner or take over with existing patients, some doctors have more then one practice they hired RDA (registered dental assistants) who are trained to do a lot of the daily work and you just check, except for the initial appointment where bands have to be cemented.. Good luck.
