Orthodontics Elastics – Teeth Rubberbands?

i have two questions my first one is are orthodontics elastics the same thing as Teeth Effect Bands aka Dental Rubber Bands and if i want them do i need any prescriptions from my dentist/orthodontist or can i just buy them and put it on because i have a slight gap between my two top teeth
oh and also can i use it for my bottom teeth too ?
If you have a friend who is wearing elastics ask them to get an extra bag for you at their next appointment. My friend’s mom and my boyfriend use mine for their small gaps.
You can probably find small elastics at a beauty store. I know black girls sometimes use the tiny ones in their hair.
