What are some of the best colleges to go to, to become an orthodontist?

you need: 1 yr gen chem, 1 yr organic chem, 1 year physics, at LEAST 1 year bio, (all with labs), calculus and 1 yr english to be excepted into a dental school and then you must score very well on the dental school entrance exam. also, you dont just go from your bachelor’s to orthodontic school- you must get your b.s, gain acceptance, attend, and graduate from a dental school, THEN be excepted into orthodontic school, which is extremely competitive. you will need at least a 3.5 gpa in undergrad, and must be at the top of your class in dental school. you need to think of dental school first- you could very well change your mind about specializing while in dental school, since you probably dont know the ins and outs of an orthodontist’s job and may find out its not for you, or your grades arent high enough (im not trying to burst your bubble; you really have to be the best of the best to get into an orthodontic program). im in med school now, and the prerequisites for dental school are the same as the ones i needed for medical school acceptance. its extremely competitive to get into dental school; if you manage to be accepted into one and do exceptionally well there, then you can focus on orthodontics- youre jumping the gun by thinking too far ahead. one step at a time! i know its a harsh reality check, but i wanted to be honest.
You should contact Emory to find out their specifics! It helps a lot!
