I Currently Have Braces, And I Was Wondering If I Can Switch To Invisalign On The Top Row Of Teeth?

I have been using elastics for about three weeks, and I’m about to get one of my bottom teeth extracted. I have a small overbite and my lower teeth is slightly misaligned with my top, resulting in a slight open bite as well. There’s no fixing the open bite until the space where the tooth that will be extracted is closed. My top teeth are perfectly straight.

  1. First off, Invisalign will NOT fix an open bite.
Second, with the cost of Invisalign it is not practical to switch over. You will be doubling your orthodontic costs.
Just be patient and wear your elastics as told.
It’s well worth it in the end.

  2. Laura, I would advise that you stick with braces. I went from Invisalign braces to traditional braces. I’m not sure why you’d do the opposite. Traditional braces are much more effective, especially if you have an overbite on the uppers. If your top teeth are perfectly fine, I think the next step would be to get a retainer, not Invisalign braces.
I wouldn’t go back to Invisalign now knowing how much better traditional braces are. Email me (address on my site) if you have any questions. I’m currently a month and a half into my traditional braces now.

  3. Ivisalign is expensive, and they say it doesn’t work for an overbite.
