I am getting some orthodontic work done TODAY and I am so nervous!
Any way I can calm myself down?
Please help me! ! ! !

When i get my braces tightened i always take my mp3 player and listen to music while i am having work done, it totally takes your mind off your teeth
If you have really bad anxiety issues your Ortho. can prescribe some medications. Most of the time I don’t like being there because I don’t know what they are doing, unfamiliar vocabulary, and just regular anxiety. I always ask tons of questions-not just about what they are doing but who the people are. I also try to distract myself with an mp3 player, book- anything to keep my mind off of what they are doing.
You’re totally opposite to me! Im 13, and wear a full fixed brace. On my first appointment, I was like mega excited! But it depends wht ur getting done. A brace fitted? Or just a check up? Well one thing that calms me is to wiggle my feet while im sitting on the dental chair. Also, tell the dentist that you’re really nervous, and theyll help you overcome your fear. It’ll help. Trust me.
Good Luck!
think of something interesting.
talk to whoever is helping you.
just relax and take deep breaths.
it wont take long and then youll be done and feel much better.
i take a little toy that can be squeezed if i have to get a shot. when i am getiing the shot, i squeeze it hard and then its done.
