   I’d say it’s a matter of weeks to months.

   Straight teeth aren’t the only reason orthodontists prescribe braces though. For me the biggest reason was my bite was off, and looking back on it, if I had just started wearing my rubberbands ALL THE TIME instead of waiting for a year to actually use them, I would have gotten my braces of way sooner, so if your ortho is prescribing anything like rubberbands or other appliances MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THEM ALL THE TIME. It shouldn’t be long then.

   Ditto on wearing the retainer!! I had to go back and get braces again as an adult because I didn’t keep up with it.
