I was just at my orthodontist on Saturday. He said i need braces and an expander. What do they do first i just want to no like how do they record and how do they put braces on and how long does it take?
well i no of two ways. my friends had an expander and braces at the same time. this could be one case with you. the other way i no of is that you wil get the expander and once your mouth is wide enough then you will get braces.the process of getting braces depends. it is usually 2 hours for top and bottom. what they do is clean your teeth, glue on the brackets dry it with a black light thing and put the wire through. and thats how it is done.

Anyway:
After my free consultation, i went back and had my x-rays and stuff done.
Then i had to get my impressions done. That part is awful because they plaster this thick pink thing on this little rubber tray for you to bite on and it feels like its going down your throat [i gagged] (tastes awful).
Then after a week or so i went back to actually have the braces put on. No pain at all. They just cleaned my teeth and put the glue on and put the braces on row by row [instead of 1 bracket at a time]. For me, they did bottom first, then top. then they put the wire in and all the little coloured elastics on 1 by 1. Took about an hour and a half.
Teeth felt fine at first. Then the next day i was in paaaaaaain. I couldnt eat anything harder than mac n cheese
This is in Jamaica. I dont know if its different where you are but i had a pic taken and emailed to me the day i got them and i have a profile on their website with my x-rays and stuff, my apointments and balance and all of my records.
I have to keep my braces on for 2 years.

Sorry not sure about the expander…… I recently got braces on my top and bottom jaw. Braces take about half and hour for each jaw. First they put in separators a week before to make room between your back molars for the rings around your back teeth. After the first week they take out the spacers and place the rings around your back teeth. This can take a while to do as they have to fit them around your teeth. These don’t hurt to put on, just a bit of pressure. Next they glue a bracket to each tooth and shine a light on it to make it stick, and lastly they put a wire through each bracket. The pain doesn’t start until a few hours after. Make sure to take pain medication and eat soft foods for the first week or so. Goodluck,

They take out the spacers, take moulds, pictures, x-rays, and then put bands on your teeth (the ring like part of the braces). They clean the teeth with an etchant and then they put the braces on and then they put a wire in and then put on the colours.
It takes about 1.5-2 hours
