Hi! My daughter Lindsay which is 9 years old, just got 4 braces on her top front teeth. She says they hurt when she touchs them or when she tries to eat. How long will it take for them to stop hurting. She is only 9 so I wasn’t sure if it was hurting because she is younger or if will effect her differently or what.
Thanks!

  1. Mine hurt for the first couple of days. I took tylenol and it took care of some of the pain. Cool foods helped too. But, her mouth will be sore when they adjust them again. Also, if the dentist ever puts the linked bands on the brackets, then those will hurt for a while. I had those and I was in pain for a week.

  2. this varies, with how much the dentist pulled them together, her mouth, etc etc.
for me, it usually took from a couple hours to 2-4 days at the most. :) but usually, it passes pretty fast.
what braces do is pull the teeth sideways, so regardless of age, but depending on how much the screws are tightened, it hurts.

  3. Why would she touch them?
Anyway, my teeth hurt pretty bad for about a day and a half. The pain starts to go away, and is normally completely gone in 4 days.

  4. She may feel a little more discomfort since she is so young, but most of the pain should be gone within a few days. After a week or so, she won’t even notice she has them on.

  5. My sister got braces like five or six months ago. Her mouth stopped hurting in about two to three days. Take a lot of Advil, and eat popsicals and ice cream! Good luck!

  6. it usually ends in about 2-3 days

  7. She will be able to eat STAKE by a week
