My step mom wants to get braces but doesn’t want metals ones. I’ve been told that invisalign takes a lot longer than regular metal braces. Is this true? But what I really want to know is how long on average does invisalign take to straighten peoples teeth?

  1. Sorry but there’s no easy answers. The length of time depends on how many aligners she will need. The more crooked her teeth are, the more aligners she’ll need.
I’m going through Invisalign now. I think she should be aware that it’ll probably take longer than they say it will. I had 14 aligners and you wear them for 2 weeks each. That’s 28 weeks(7 months).
I was pretty happy about that time. I was planning on a year. But, chances are there may be issues along the way, she may need to wear certain aligners longer than 2 weeks. And then at the end of the initial treatment, if she or the orthodontist isn’t happy about how her teeth look, she can have a revision treatment. This just means they’ll take more molds of her teeth and have more aligners made. This is included in the Invisalign cost. I got to the end of my treatment and wasn’t completely satistfied and had 7 more aligners. Now, they’re looking real good. It’s now been 14 months since I started and I’m done with aligners.
If her teeth are real crooked, tell her to plan on a year of Invisalign. And at first, you think it’ll last forever. But then you get real used to your aligners and actually your teeth feel better when they’re in. And time does fly by.

  2. Invisalign is for people who have little teeth problem. And its length will depend on the inidvidual’s teeth just like traditional braces.
