I just got my braces on Monday and I want to know how long I’m going to be on a liquid diet as my dad calls it?

  1. I had braces back in the dark ages (I’m 51) but I remember that after a couple of days (after the initial “installation as well as after each tightening) I was usually able to eat something. Ibuprofen (such as Advil) might make it easier, as what you’re feeling is primarily from inflammation, and that’s what ibuprofen treats. You might also try rinsing with salt water to help the inflammation. Lastly, I recall that just eating something that wasn’t *too* hard (maybe a PBJ sandwich [not crunchy!]) seemed to help me start dealing with the soreness – not quite sure why it helped, but it seemed to work for me.

  2. In about a week to ten days you’ll feel improvement.
In a few days try some mashed potatoes and tomato.
Don’t eat crunchy foods for at least a week.

  3. It depends how quickly your teeth move.About 3 to 6 days after their put in ,and after the adjustments.

  4. three or four days, I know where your comming from thoes first few days are the worst

  5. a week or two it will hurt for a while trust me

  6. it will hurt for a week or so and everytime you get them adjusted or tightened… it will hurt… it hurts cause they are moving your teeth…

  7. Usually it’s just 3-6 days. And I found that when I had my braces, if I were to just “buck up” and eat somethings that were a little harder, the sorness went away faster. The ligaments around the teeth need to loosen up, and eating can speed it up. USually the first week after you get them on is the worst, gets better?
    Good luck!
