In the US, you need to get either your DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) or DMD (Doctor of Medical Dentistry) license, which are the same thing… then you need additional schooling for the specialty you want to acheive, like orthodontics…
in my country, one has to get a degree in dentistry first, then have a few years of working experience, before they could do a degree in field of specialists, like ortho.
