I have an oral fixation basically. I always have gum in my mouth. I know you cant chew gum. Could I have hard candy in my mouth or somthing. I know your not supposed, but what if I brushed often?

Your orthodontist has perscribed a minimum amount of time per day that you need to keep your invisalign retainers in your mouth; two or twelve or twenty hours per day for example. Obviously you will need to periodically remove your retainers to eat, brush your teeth, and put them back on. But not often. If you remove the retainers often, then you will defeat their purpose which is to properly realigning your teeth. There is also the possibility that the gum of your jaws will lose their firm grip on your teeth due to excessive movement from constantly removing your retainers. If, on the other hand, you leave them in like you’re supposed to, but you put food in your mouth, then the retainers will prevent your saliva from washing away the sugar and food particles from around and between your teeth. You will have tooth decay; lots of cavities. Ask your orthodontist how often you can remove the retainers and have hard candy or something at those times.
Ask your dentist.
