For instance if one goes out with friends to a club/bar – do you really have to take the aligners out before you drink and then brush thereafter? If one drink throughs a straw – surely your teeth and aligners don’t get affected or?

  1. You don’t need to take the aligners out. All aligners get duller in their appearance – this is natural. A little alcohol isn’t going to make a significant difference. It’s much better if you drink through a straw and not let the alcohol touch the aligners, of course. I’ve poured soda inside my mouth (head tilted up) with the aligners still on. Just make sure to clean the aligners when you get home with some toothpaste (avoid whitening). It’s a huge pain to take them out when you’re with company, but if you want them really, really unnecessarily perfectly clean, you’ll have to go through a lot of trouble.
Though it’s advised to clean your aligners after every meal, I only washed my aligners at night and after two weeks they were in still pretty good shape. Check out my aligners on my site.

  2. you can drink with the aligners in. Shouldn’t be a problem. It’s ok to take them out for a few hours but remember to put them back in asap so your teeth don’t move. So if you get plowed….don’t forget to put the aligners back in. Of course if you get sick….you know what i mean…and you have the aligners in be sure you don’t flush them down.

  3. I say take it out to keep it nice and clean :)
