Anyone Who Knows Orthodontics Information?

My 12 yr old daughter is scheduled to have her braces put on in @ 2 weeks & I have to decide between having the “forces appliance” or “tads” which is advisable in your opinion & any add’l info please?

Did they not give you more info other than just the names of procedures? I would seek additional information from the dentist.
You definitely should be given the “why” information behind each type. If by “forces appliance” you mean traditional arch-wire/brackets braces, then those can work together with TADs (temporary anchor devices). Ask what the purpose of the TADs will be – for my daughter, it provided an anchor for elastics to really tug on her molars and actually make them recede back into her head (they “hung” too low and kept all her other teeth from closing). I don’t know how they could use TADs without having something to connect them to. The orthodontist owes you a great deal more information! These days, they should be able to show you computer-generated images that show the before and after and how they plan to make the changes. It will probably be great, but you and your daughter deserve to know, since it will make it easier for everyone to make it all work. Best wishes.
